AISHA BUHARI FINALLY SPEAK AGAINST CHILD MARRIAGE


The wife of Nigerian President, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has assured of her preparedness to publicly advocate for legislation against child marriage, even as she maintained that, no single Nigerian girl would be left behind in her campaign to get girls into school.

Earlier, the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) in conjunction with other partners, such as the Federal Ministry of Education had divulged that, they focused their activities on the transforming power of education to empower adolescent girls to overcome all challenges that affect their lives and inhibit their prospects of advancement.

The wife of the president, who spoke when a delegation of 50 adolescent girls paid her an advocacy visit to mark the end of 2015 International Day of the Girl Child, also urged parents to give their girl child the opportunity of acquiring education.

Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development Monitoring Team have arrested about four women who were begging for alms with babies less than a month old that weren’t their own. The women, Hadiza Nosiru and Salamotu Salisu, both from Jigawa State were arrested at the Oyingbo area of the State. Preliminary investigation showed that the two women apprehended are not the biological mothers of the babies but were given to them by their parents who later got paid for each baby. 40-year-old Aregbesola is one of the women arrested  for using her children to beg for alms in return for stipends. REVEALED: THE US ARMY IS DEVELOPING THE ULTIMATE 'BIG GUN'

On March 19, U.S. Marine Corps staff sergeant Louis Cardin, a field artilleryman assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit,  died during an attack  on Fire Base Bell outside of Makhmur, Iraq. Coincidentally, the U.S. Army is hard at work developing a farther-firing howitzer that could help keep artillery troops out of range of enemy forces. The Army is cooking up a suite of improvements could double the range of the existing M-777 howitzer. Right now the 155-millimeter gun, in service with the Army and Marines, can lob shells at targets up to 18 miles away. The M-777ER version the Army is working on “will be able to reach out and hit targets … before the targets can reach them,” David Bound, the lead engineer on the project at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey,  told Army reporters .
